Urban life occurs on the streets. All bodies, identities, religions, and humans use streets as conveyance, socialization, and living spaces. The street is an inherently political space. For this reason, designers must constantly evaluate the success or failings of their work in urban contexts and be critical of the choices they make there in.


Fin - Musings on Architecture

Fin, is a collection of musings, poetry from other sources, musical lyrics, and assorted materials that were compiled in response to the completion of my MArch degree during the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown in the US. The point of this compilation is to both critique and serve as a record of my thoughts and directions while finishing a design degree in isolation.

The iconic line from Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” track was the inspiration for this short essay on the relationship between architecture, jewelry, and the human body. It is an exploration of conceptualizing how architectural ornament and body adornment are related to one another through craft and intention.

On A Cross From Inside Out - Analysis and Critique of Byzantine cross plan churches in Ravenna

Byzantine Cross Plan churches developed in response to a different set of ritual behaviors and objects. The plan for the church was directly tied to the objects of devotion contained within the structure. Icons were central to the rituals and prayers practiced by Byzantine Christians. Similarly, to how one prays through the image of an icon, one conducts a ritual through the building.
